WOW!!! Government To Give Laptops To School Pupils From Tomorrow

The Government will on Friday kick-start the delivery of digital learning devices to Class One pupils countrywide. The massive rollout plan will see all Cabinet Secretaries and Permanent Secretaries lead the distribution to 60 schools over the next one month.
The plan, we have learnt, is advised by the need to fast-track the Jubilee government flagship project that has been elusive since 2013, with a total of 1.2 million devices expected to be delivered to all the 23,951 public primary schools by December this year.
The devices include laptops for teachers and tablets for pupils, which are fitted with Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development (KICD)-approved content. Content for Class One and Two is available in five subjects.
According to a schedule by the ICT Authority and Digischool-the key implementers of the project-the rollout will kick off on Friday when ICT Cabinet Secretary Joe Mucheru will deliver laptops to Ortum Boys School in West Pokot County.

LASU Gives Graduates Final Deadline To Collect Certificates (See Date)

The Lagos State University, LASU, said on Friday that 24,734 certificates of graduates who left the institution over the last 10 years were lying uncollected at its registry.
Early in the year, Prof. Olanrewaju Fagbohun, LASU Vice-Chancellor, assured that the backlog of certificates in the institution will be resolved within four months.
Adekoya Martins, the Acting Head, Centre for Information, Press and Public Relations, LASU, told newsmen that the certificates were for students who graduated with diplomas and degrees.
Martins said that the university, following the backlog of uncollected certificates, had decided that affected graduates who fail to collect theirs before October 21 would have to pay ‎N15,000 before doing so.
Martins said: “Before you know it, some the graduates of the university ‎will be clamouring that LASU is withholding their certificates.
“Now that the certificates have been signed and released for collection, only a few are coming for it.
“Collection of certificates commenced on September 26 and it will end on October 21.
“Payment for late collection after the stipulated period of four weeks, after Friday October 21, is N15,000 only.”
The university, in its official bulletin, had said the certificates were available for collection at the Certificate Unit of the Exams and Records in its Registry.
It urged graduates to visit the university website – www.lasu.edu.ng – for further information on the procedure for collection of certificates and confirmation of the list of issued certificates

One of the players with the biggest impact early on was Nwankwo Kanu, the Nigerian became the first African to play for Arsenal and he went on to make a name for himself as well as helping the club win a host of trophies and Premier League titles.
“African players had a massive impact on my career because I always managed them right from the moment I started in the top league in France,” Wenger was quoted by the club’s website.
“I had African players at Monaco and I like the fact that they were creative and they are usually attacking players with imagination. They have pace and power as well, and they usually combine strength and agility well. That’s very difficult to find.
“Africans are hugely passionate people and there is a big passion in Africa for the game. They are happy on the football pitch and that’s something which has been fantastic for us.
“Kanu had a massive impact here, Kolo Toure too, I had George Weah too… so all these players had a massive impact.”

Police Arrest Kidnappers Of ABU Lecturer’s Wife [See Photo]

Operatives of the State Intelligence Bureau in Kaduna State have arrested three suspects in connection with the kidnap of the wife of a lecturer of the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Kaduna State.
Spokesperson for the Kaduna State Police Command, Mr. Aliyu Usman, an assistant superintendent of police, identified the suspects as Mohammed Tukur, Suleima Auta and Shuaibu Rabiu, all of whom were living behind the ABU campus.
Usman told Saturday Punch that Inusa was kidnapped on September 19, 2016 at her residence in Zaria. He explained that the police launched a manhunt for the suspects after the case was reported and that they were tracked down a week after at different hideouts in the state.
But Usman, who indicated that Inusa had been released too, did not give details of the circumstances surrounding her release by the suspects.
“The suspects have confessed to the crime and investigation is still ongoing to arrest their accomplices,” he said
