Edo guber: APC used Oshiomhole’s aide to rig Oredo election – PDP

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has alleged that the All Progressives Congress (APC) used one of Governor Adams Oshimhole’s trusted aides, Osakpanwam Eriyo, to rig the outcome of the Wednesday’s governorship election in Edo State in Oredo Local Government Area.
The party, therefore, called on the Inspector-General Police, Ibrahim Idris, to immediately arrest Eriyo and bring him to justice.
In a statement yesterday by its National Publicity Secretary, Prince Dayo Adeyeye, PDP said its candidate, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, secured “a massive victory over the candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC)” but Eriyo allegedly invaded the collation centre along with several armed men.
“During this invasion, Mr. Osakpanwam Eriyo forcefully removed all result sheets used in collating results for the LGA,” the statement added.
PDP accused security agents of colluding with him to rig the election in the area, observing that it has severally given warnings about the plan of the ruling APC to attack LGA collation centres where it believed that the results of the elections to be unfavourable.

“Further to this, we hereby call on the Inspector- General of Police and the heads of the relevant security agencies to immediately arrest Eriyo and his accomplices.
“We also urge the IGP and other security agencies to immediately retrieve the election result sheets and return them safely to INEC to enable the electoral body complete the electoral process.
“It is imperative that the Nigerian Police Force immediately arrest Eriyo as a means of building confidence in the electorate,” the party warned.
PDP governorship candidate, Ize-Iyamu had said APC could not have won Oredo LGA despite evidence of violence at George Idah Primary collation centre by suspected thugs.
He said his team would examine all the results of the election, which they collated from the field and publish in the newspaper what should have been the actual result.
